Melbourne Fringe Festival Hub
7 - 18 OCTOBER
Blending clowning, physical theatre, and philosophical nonsense, Big Dog Theatre’s, ‘Conversations with a Fried Egg’ is weird. It’s also sad. It’s like standing in your kitchen having a deep conversation with yourself, your breakfast, your inner demons, and the creatures in the walls.
We meet Egg - a tender yet over-easy optimist - and a family of rats. Hungry rats. A fried egg may mean more to them than just a meal.
When cracks appear in your shell, will you be poached, fried, or scrambled? ‘Conversations with a Fried Egg’ is an absurd exploration of life, loneliness and breakfast.
"Conversations with a Fried Egg is a shining example of good, slick fringe theatre created by a troupe from Melbourne. The concept, design and delivery of this devised piece is cohesive and unpretentious. Minimal set, minimal props, single costumes, minimal sound and lighting and yet they create and deliver a theatrical world totally unto itself. One of those pieces that is totally, typically under-resourced, fully humble and rather brilliant." - Stage Whispers, Kimberely Twiner
