WRITing for comedy, the big dog process: A workshop series
We’re running a four-part, pay-as-you-feel workshop series with The Motley Bauhaus as part of our 10‑week residency, where we’ll share the wild and messy process behind it all. Each workshop builds on the last, guiding participants from idea generation through to creating a comedic story or piece.
During this series we will play with idea generation, dreaming up characters, connecting with the audience, and pulling it all together on stage. It will be surreal and absurd fyi!

BIG DOG THEATRE x MOTLEY BAUHAUS RESIDENCY 2026
WE HAVE BIG NEWS!!!
(like, dance-around-in-your-undies kinda big news)!
Our upcoming project 'The Devil in Her Undies' is shimmying its way into a 10-week residency at the Motley Bauhaus in Carlton! Starting this month we’ll be cooking up some surreal comedy magic with a developmental season turn show!
We’ll be bringing chaos and silliness around the venue - maybe in the Theatrette, maybe hot-desking, maybe wherever there’s Wi-Fi and a power outlet, as we dream up, devise, and rehearse for our new work.
And YOU can get involved too! We’re running four “Pay As You Feel” public workshops starting the week of 20 April! Think absurdist writing, collaborative devising, and performance silliness <3
Then, when the dust settles and the devil is fully dressed, we’ll wrap it all up with a two-week performance season of 'The Devil in Her Undies', running from the 19–30 May 2026 in the Theatrette!!
So, mark your calendars and come play with us. Something weird and wonderful is brewing at Motley Bauhaus, and you’re totally invited.
